Welcome to Basque country! Trois-Pistoles is known for its rich cultural and natural heritage, and the abiding influence of the St. Lawrence. Festival, sea kayak excursions, outings to the Île aux Basques, craft boutique, garden, lodging and restaurants – this charming little town has something for everyone. After visiting the area, begin your tour by heading south on Rue Jean-Rioux, which becomes Route 293 as you leave town.
Turn left onto the 2e Rang Est, then right at the sign for Saint-Mathieu-de-Rioux and then left again onto the 3e Rang Ouest. The bucolic scenery and views overlooking Lac Saint-Mathieu are worth the trip. Plan a break at the winery in the heart of the village before continuing toward Saint-Fabien, where a commanding view over the Lac de la Station and Saint-Fabien awaits. At the intersection, turn right on to Chemin Ladrière, then left at the next intersection onto Chemin Voyer (recently renamed). This will lead you to Rue Sainte-Cécile-de-Bic, where you will turn right to continue through the village before taking Route 132 to reach Rimouskiby the scenic route (Route des Navigateurs).
*In Rimouski, maritime capital of the Bas-Saint-Laurent, the St.Lawrence creates a spectacular backdrop. Enjoy all that the Rimouski (This tour can also begin in Rimouski*) area has to offer: Parc national du Bic and the village of Le Bic (now merged with Rimouski), museums, the lighthouse, a submarine, Saint-Barnabé Island and a multitude of services and recreational activities.
